PARIS, June 24 (Xinhua) – The business climate in France rebounded sharply in June, reaching its highest level since mid-2007, according to figures released Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics and Statistics. economic studies (INSEE).
The indicator which synthesizes it, calculated from the answers of the heads of companies of the principal sectors of merchant activity, gains five points. At 113, it is at its highest since mid-2007, clearly above its level before the health crisis (105) and, all the more so, above its long-term average (100) .
“This new improvement in the business climate is mainly due to the increase in the balance of opinion on the general outlook for activity in services”, explained the INSEE.
In industry, the business climate was stable in June, after five months of continuous increases. However, the balance of opinion on the general outlook for the sector’s activity is clearly increasing. In the service sector, he gained six points. The balance on the general business outlook reached its highest level since September 2000 and, overall, business leaders’ expectations are improving very strongly.
In retail trade (including auto trade and repair), the business climate gained eight points, mainly due to the sharp rise in the balance of opinion on the general business outlook, to its highest level since start of the series (January 1991). Finally, in the building industry, the balance of opinion relating to recent activity has improved markedly; supply difficulties are, however, considered to be on the rise.
At the same time, the employment climate is improving significantly again. At 104, it is back above its long-term average (100) and is approaching its level before the health crisis (105 in January and February 2020). This improvement is again mainly due to the increase in the balance of opinion on the expected evolution of employment for the next three months in services other than temporary employment agencies.
