Crime – Freiburg im Breisgau:Further guesswork about possible racist assault
Directly from the dpa news channel
Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – In the investigation against a Freiburg police officer after a possible racist attack, many questions remain unanswered. The police announced on Thursday that it seemed “sufficiently certain” that the officer had said the words “foreigners out” during the incident. However, it will be checked whether this was addressed to a person or was part of a narrative. So far there has been “no evidence of politically extremist attitudes” from those involved. The police could not be reached by phone on Thursday for further questions.
According to the police, the incident on June 12 in Freiburg resulted in an argument and physical attacks in several places. A 36-year-old Latvian is said to have hit a 47-year-old German in the face with his fist. The Latvian was then threatened with the words “I will kill you”. In addition, the 47-year-old tried to attack him. The Freiburg police are currently investigating five suspects, including one of their own officials. He is accused of being a threat.
