Vaccination: despair in lines due to shortage of doses Pfizer – Bogotá

Once again in Bogotá there was a day of long lines, many citizens say that they were summoned to apply the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine and that when they went to the middle of the line or almost arriving they warned them that they had finished.

For example, in western Bogotá, there were several complaints. In the Dorado Plaza, one of the vaccination points, dozens of citizens were immunized despite the information warned by the Ministry of Health. “I come from Somondoco (Boyacá) just to get vaccinated and they leave me with that they are finished, that there is no more,” said Julio Roberto Vaca Perilla.

Emilce Gutiérrez said that he had also lined up but that until that moment he learned that there are no vaccines available for that dose.

Another citizen, Domingo Suárez, said that what was warned was that those who were scheduled were going to be vaccinated, but in the end “there was no one for anyone,” he said.

It should be remembered that the Ministry of Health reported this week that the vaccination process continues in the city as normal, but that due to the low availability of Pfizer doses, the biological of this brand will not be applied in the commercial centers authorized to vaccination.

The city has 34,885 doses of Pfizer that will be used for second doses that are scheduled and that are currently in the possession of the EPS.

However, according to Jessica Castelblanco, it is not true that the EPS are applying them. “I am a District teacher so my EPS is Servisalud, today I got to apply the second dose, according to the appointment I had scheduled in advance and the surprise was that there is no vaccine Pfizer for second dose ”.

She explained that the response from the staff was that she should wait to be called. “The 21 days after my first dose were due on Monday, June 21, I have already passed the estimated days according to the study carried out by Pfizer. They are not guaranteeing the agenda of vaccination, nobody responds ”.

As of tomorrow, Thursday, June 24, the city hopes to catch up with the second doses of Pfizer that could not be applied due to a biological limitation, as soon as it is delivered. “The novelty is that at the moment there is no Pfizer vaccine in the shopping centers, only those who were scheduled by their EPS will be vaccinated with that biological,” said the secretary of health, Alejandro Gómez. The entity confirmed to EL TIEMPO that it has not received new doses from the National Government.
