Apple rolled out a small software update for its AirTags last night. This is a revised version of firmware 1.0.276 released three weeks ago to strengthen the security of Apple’s little trackers. This update still has the same numbering, but with a number of build different: 1A287b instead of 1A276d. As usual, Apple does not provide the details of the fix but it is undoubtedly a question of refining certain settings, for example on the responsiveness of the ringtone of the trackers in case of loss.
It is not possible to manually trigger the update of an AirTag: it is installed automatically when the trackers are near the iPhone. You can check the software version of your AirTags in the Find My application, by clicking on their name.
