Liverpool fans have been reacting to Jordan Henderson’s disallowed goal for England.
The Reds captain had to settle for a bench spot for the Three Lions’ Clash of the European Championship group stage against the Czech Republic.
Henderson was signed at halftime by Gareth Southgate in place of West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.
England won the game 1-0 to lead Group D thanks to a goal from Raheem Sterling early in the first half.
Henderson thought he had scored a second goal for England in the second half, but his effort was negated for offside.
It would have been Henderson’s first goal for his country, in what was his 60th international.
Many Liverpool fans took to social media to express their disappointment at seeing Henderson deny his first England goal.
Here is a selection of what I had to say.
“Too bad it was out of the game, but for a moment he started cheering.”
“Hendo has been very good since he came in, he made some nice passes and the offside goal (unfortunate).”
“VERY CLOSE Hendo offside unfortunate”.
“If that Jordan Henderson goal weren’t offside …”
“Oh, Hendo I wish that could have been your target.”
“Poor Hendo. He finally scores a goal, but he’s offside. I love the man.”
“Gutted for Hendo. Offside given by his goal.”
“The offside flag ruined Hendo’s moment.”
