Quick Change Red meat with Meat Chicken, Proven Able to Avoid Breast cancer, Loh!
WIKEN.ID – Not a few people choose Red meat as the main ingredient in cooking.
However, who would have thought instead of consuming Red meat, prefer to eat chicken or poultry others can reduce the risk breast cancer.
That’s what a new study shows.
A group of researchers from the US National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences conducted a study on 42,012 women for seven and a half years, observing the type of meat they consumed and the way they cooked the meat.
The study found that women who ate poultry, such as chicken, turkey or duck, instead of beef, lamb or pork, were 28% less likely to develop breast tumors.
In contrast, those who often eat red meat have a 23% higher risk of breast cancer, compared to those who rarely eat it.
Women who ate the most poultry in their diet had a 15% lower chance of developing breast cancer than those who ate the least.
A number of previous studies have linked high consumption of red meat with various diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and various types of cancer.
“Red meat has been identified as a possible emerging carcinogen,” said lead researcher Dr. Dale Sandler.
“Our study adds further evidence that red meat consumption may be associated with an increased risk of breast cancer while poultry meat consumption leads to a reduced risk,” he said, adding that the reasons behind this correlation remained to be further investigated.
Sandler says eating less red meat and replacing it with poultry are simple changes that can help reduce the incidence of breast cancer.

Factors including obesity, physical activity, and alcohol consumption were not found to influence the study’s findings.
The study did not reveal an association between the way meat is cooked and breast cancer risk.
The results of this study were published in the International Journal of Cancer. A follow-up study found that 1,536 women were diagnosed with breast cancer each year across the United States.
