-The opening cinemas now also enable the latest DreamWorks animation film “The Croods 2 – everything at the beginning” (USA 2020) finally an evaluation in Germany. The official theatrical release in Germany will take place on July 8th, 2021 – in the USA the film has been available for purchase in the home theater segment since February 2021. Joel Crawford’s family film is a sequel to DreamWorks’ “The Croods” (USA 2013) from 2013 and sends the Stone Age family on a new adventure. In the second part, an evolutionary competition breaks out with the rival Betterman family, who want to prove to the Croods that they are already much more developed and therefore know and can do everything better.
-A little more than 2 weeks before the cinema release, there are finally the first details about the release in Germany. According to the current planning status, this will take place in the sales department of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment on November 11, 2021 in time for the pre-Christmas business. This also brings you back to the usual 4-month theatrical release window. The preliminary product selection, which will consist of two combo packs, has already provided initial retailer information. We have a 4K release on Ultra HD Blu-ray including the HD version on Blu-ray and a 3D release Blu-ray 3D including 2D version planned on a second disc. A 2D single release however, is not in sight for the time being.
-There are no final details yet, but at least in the US it has been “The Croods 2” with English Dolby Atmos sound, HDR and Dolby Vision released. UPHE last had in this country in December “The Croods” in 4K submitted later and at the same time DTS:X-Sound set, which was also used for the German soundtrack. This gives rise to hopes that the second part could also have a modern sound format in German. (pf)
