Social media – Twitter stars with a large following in the USA should be able to offer paid content in a test. However, a commission must be paid to Twitter from the income.
The online network announced on Tuesday that it had started selecting US applicants. They should be able to earn money with the help of the new “Super Follows” or “Ticketed Spaces” functions.
“Ticketed Spaces helps you create unique and exclusive audio experiences that your audience is willing to pay for,” said Ellen Havlicek and Esther Crawford of Twitter’s product division. With the “Super Follows” function, a “direct relationship with your most loyal subscribers” can be created, which can lead to monthly income, it said.
On “Ticketed Spaces” the selected Twitter celebrities will be able to sell virtual tickets for audio events at prices between one and 999 dollars. With “Super Follows” there should be exclusive content for subscriptions for three, five or ten dollars a month.
Twitter should not just be a “fun place to interact with the audience”, but also become a place “where you can make money from engaging conversations,” explained Crawford and Havlicek.
Twitter wants to withhold three percent of revenues of up to 50,000 dollars, and for higher revenues the company wants 20 percent commission. Twitter wants to create new income opportunities with the new offers, which are to be tested first. So far, the group has been financed mainly through advertising.
