For the first time, an active football professional in the National Football League has come out as gay. Carl Nassib of the Las Vegas Raiders posted a video on Instagram. In it he said that he had wanted to do this for so long, but only now did he feel comfortable enough to get it off his chest. For 15 years he tormented himself with the thought. The 28-year-old added that he hopes that one day videos like his will no longer be necessary. He wants to work for more acceptance and compassion. Therefore, the donation is 100,000 US dollars to a project to prevent suicide among young LGBTQ people in the United States. Nassib’s club and the NFL reacted positively to his outing.
