According to Calciomercato, a big auction is now expected for Atalanta defender Cristian Romero, and Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are expected to move.
Atalanta is set to sign another defender at Bologna’s Takehiro Tomiyasu, and now they could take advantage of Romero in what could be a bit complex.
Romero still has a year left on his Juventus loan deal, but Atalanta can activate his call option now to sell high this summer.
Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester United and Barcelona are described as the clubs most likely to enter a big auction for their signing this summer.

Liverpool’s interest in Romero
Sky Italia reported last week that Liverpool had made their first move for Romero by submitting a query for the Argentine.
Liverpool did, although they only squandered money on Ibrahima Konate, so it feels a bit difficult to imagine them spending a lot of money on Romero as well.
So what about Tottenham moving for Romero?
Tottenham need a central defender and Fabio Paratici apparently wants to focus on building a strong defensive side at Spurs, so a deal for Romero adds up.
Given that any deal for Romero is expected to be worth at least € 50m (£ 43m), Tottenham would have to dig deeper to sign the 23-year-old.

How has Romero behaved in Italy?
The center-back played in Genoa, winning his 2019 signing to Juventus, but was loaned directly to Genoa and then to Atalanta.
Romero may well leave Juventus without playing a game for them, but Paratici will know him well having signed him for Juve.
Romero was hailed for dominating Zlatan Ibrahimovic last season, and that’s the kind of defender Tottenham would love to sign, but beating Liverpool, United and Barca won’t be easy.
