In Pazardzhik they suffered the most from COVID, and the least – in Sofia (Obzor)

Within a month, a national survey by the health ministry will show how many Bulgarians have no protection against the virus

More than 2 million people probably have natural immunity

43%, or about 2.5 million Bulgarians, have probably been infected with the coronavirus and have acquired natural immunity to it. Most cases were in Pazardzhik, and the least – in Sofia.

This shows the first in Bulgaria study of immunity, conducted by “Cibalab” – one of the largest private chains of laboratories. However, it is not national and its data cannot be definite.

The study was conducted in the period May 25 – June 11. 2665 randomly selected samples from 38 settlements were checked

antiN- antibodies –

natural

immunity,

i.e. from an illness, not one acquired by a vaccine.

The samples are from people who came to the laboratory for various reasons – due to pregnancy, chronic, cancer, etc., as well as those who came specifically for PCR, antigen or antibody test, explained the owner of the chain e- Nedyalko Kalachev at a briefing at the Ministry of Health on Monday.

The most positive results for anti-N-antibodies are among the samples in Pazardzhik. There were 52 samples tested, and 62% of them were positive, which means that more than half of the population there had COVID.

In Sofia, the percentage is the lowest – 31 percent, or less than 1/3 of the population, with 500 samples checked, the study shows.

In the other 36 settlements the percentage of patients is between 40 and 50. (See map).

“It’s a snapshot. The survey cannot be nationally representative. It is rather a light that more analyzes need to be done, “Kalachev said.

Serious vaccination efforts are needed because the reservoir of people who are “virgin” with respect to the coronavirus, ie. they have no protection, it will be

the potential

place where

would strike

next wave

and in our country the situation would be repeated in Great Britain and other countries such as Russia, where at the moment the Indian version has raised the morbidity a lot, he warned.

The Ministry of Health has also launched its own study to determine how many Bulgarians have encountered the coronavirus. It will be done through the software of laboratories, hospitals, GPs and other healthcare facilities. Data from antibody tests showing past infection will be sought. The information will be selected so as to avoid repeatability, ie.

the same

as positive in a laboratory result and as treated in a hospital, for example. Repeatability will also be isolated in those who have been tested several times, including PCR or antigen, and antibody testing thereafter. This will give a real idea of the level of collective immunity in our country.

“I had a meeting with the representatives of all software companies and we reached an agreement. We will build a technical place with us, where

to be collected

data from March

2020

how many citizens were hospitalized with COVID-19, in how many people the coronavirus infection was detected by antigen or PCR test, in how many there are data for antibodies and how many are vaccinated “, said the Minister of Health Dr. Stoycho Katsarov.

The information will be sorted by PIN, districts and municipalities. The data will be ready in a month. The difference with those who gather in the National Information System is that here

they will be

covered and

the people who are

got sick

asymptomatic,

but they did an antibody test, ie. the picture will be more complete.

The study will also show how many people still do not have protection against the virus – neither from direct contact with it, nor from vaccination. It will also serve to assess the risk of a new wave.

Up to BGN 15,000 will be needed for its implementation, said the Minister of Health.

Stoycho Katsarov also envisages the vaccination headquarters to become an advisory council to the Minister of Health. The reason is that at the moment more administrative persons enter it, because when it was created they were engaged in the organization and logistics of vaccination in our country. IN

and other representatives of various public institutions to contribute to the strengthening of information campaigns, Katsarov said.

As of today, visits to hospitals of patients who stay more than 5 days are allowed. This is what the Minister of Health ordered in his order from Monday.

Admission of visitors will be at the discretion of the treating physician depending on the patient’s condition and the risk of contracting COVID. Only one visitor is allowed to enter in strict compliance with all anti-epidemic measures.
