Although qualified, Ireland will not send a dressage team to the Olympic Games in Tokyo because the pairs that would be eligible are no longer available. But in jumping and versatility you can definitely count on the riders from the green island!

The Irish Federation has provided the following pairs to start in jumping (in alphabetical order):
- Bertram Allen with Pacino Amiro, nine-year-old Irish gelding by Pacino.
- Darragh Kenny with Cartello, 14-year-old Holstein stallion by Cartani bred by the Witt family
- Cian O’Connor with Kilkenny, nine-year-old Irish gelding by Cardento
Shane Sweetnam travels as a reservist with the BWP mare Karlin Van’t Vennehof v. Fantomas De Muze to Tokyo. Reservists are Michael Duffy and Zilton SL Z v. Zirocco Blue.
versatility
The Irish eventing team is composed of
- Cathal Daniels with the 14-year-old Irish mare Rioghan Rua v. Jack Of Diamonds
- Sarah Ennis with twelve-year-old Irish Woodcourt Garrison v. Garrison Royal (ISH)
- Sam Watson with Tullabeg Flamenco v. Tullabeg merger
Austin O’Connor and Colorado Blue v. Jaguar Mail to Tokyo. Reservists are Joseph Murphy and the Oldenburg son of Casiro, Cesar V, bred by Elke and Robert Vietor.
All three team riders competed in Tryon again in 2018. However, the 24-year-old Cathal Daniels is the only one who still rides the horse that carried him through the Cross in Tryon (and which gave him a single bronze at the 2019 European Championship in Luhmühlen).
