Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati is aware of the increasing number of cases of the Covid-19 spike, along with the new variant of Covid-19 in Indonesia.
On Monday (21/6/2021), 14,536 additional cases were recorded, breaking the previous record recorded on January 30, 2021, which was 14,518 cases. Cumulatively, there are 2,004,445 positive cases of Covid-19 in Indonesia as of today.
Sri Mulyani said the increase in positive cases in Indonesia, which had reached more than 13,000 in one day, could affect economic conditions, especially in the second quarter of 2021. The type of new variant of the corona virus too, he said, needs to be watched out for.
“Last month the projection in the second quarter was 7.1-8.3% and in line with Covid-19, the projection is more to the lower limit range or lower,” he explained in a press conference on our State Budget, Monday (21/6/2021).
“The emergence of a new variant is a challenge for all of us. There are positive things that must be monitored with vigilance, such as the new variant of Covid-19 and the transmission of which is more rapid to affected children under five,” he continued.
As long as community activities are not yet normal, the ‘wheel’ of the economy will not turn fast. Therefore, said Sri Mulyani, the government is currently pursuing a vaccination target of up to 1 million per day to minimize the conditions that occur.
“The president expects 1 million per day. This requires the cooperation of all parties. All of our resources are vaccinated and on a micro scale. For vaccination, the Ministry of Health, Regional Government, TNI, Polri are mobilized,” he explained.
“With the Covid-19 context, in terms of global and national trends, there is optimism and there are risks that must be watched out for,” said Sri Mulyani.
