NYC will simplify municipal procedures to open a business

The Mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio, began his daily message calling on New Yorkers to consume locally and put aside online purchases through Amazon.

He announced that, from now on, the municipal administrative procedures to open a business in the city will be easy and simple.

The municipal program is called Early Business Opening in NYC and aims to reduce paperwork by 50%, committing to provide a municipal agent for microentrepreneurs and a response in less than 48 hours to the request.

Regarding public safety in the city, de Blasio reported that the amount of the reward for the Crime Stoppers line (1-800-57-PISTA) will increase from $ 2,500 to $ 3,500 for the information provided.

He also pointed out that municipal authorities are monitoring the impact that tropical storm Claudette, which is developing in the south of the East coast, would have on the tidal currents.

As for the new indicators used to measure progress in the fight against coronavirus, the most recent data showed:

  • Number of positive cases admitted to hospitals: 68 (6%)
  • Number of hospitalizations per 100,000 population, 7-day median (NYS): 0.34
  • COVID-19 reported cases, 7-day average: 175
  • Percentage of patients who tested positive, 7-day average: 0.53%
