Berlin (dpa / bb) – From the point of view of the future IBB boss Hinrich Holm, the state of Berlin should promote home ownership with its own program. “I am surprised that there is no own home subsidy in the state of Berlin. That is an issue,” said Holm of the “Berliner Morgenpost” (Monday). “Just like the topic of promoting young cooperatives. We want to encourage politicians to do something in this direction.” Because too few apartments are still being built.
“Home ownership should help create property among Berliners,” argued Holm. That is also a contribution to private retirement provision. “However, this requires the political commitment to want to do that. That doesn’t exist at the moment.”
Holm will take over as CEO of the state-owned investment bank Berlin (IBB) in the coming month from Jürgen Allerkamp, who is retiring. Holm had worked for Nord / LB for more than 20 years and was most recently the vice chairman before moving to the Boston Consulting Group and Herax Partners. He has been a member of the IBB board since May.
