Bucharest Austria’s football experts see returnees Marko Arnautovic in the EM group final against Ukraine after his suspension.
“In any case, I expect a lot from Marko Arnautovic,” wrote the former captain and ex-Bundesliga professional Christian Fuchs in the “Kronen Zeitung” before the game (6:00 pm / ARD and Magenta TV) in Bucharest. “With his” jubilation “and the associated suspension of the team, of course, he owes a lot to the team – today he has to pull the strings in the attack, live up to his role as a leading player.”

Ban served after being insulted

Arnautovic was suspended for insulting his opponent while celebrating his own goal in the 3-1 win against North Macedonia for the second European Championship game against the Netherlands (0-2). For the duel with the tied Ukraine, coach Franco Foda had given the 32-year-old attacker a starting line-up guarantee.

“The comeback of Marko Arnautovic, who was last suspended, rightly gives us all great hope,” said Austria’s legend Herbert Prohaska and warned at the same time: “But you shouldn’t give him everything. Because one person alone does not win games. Not even Lionel Messi for Barcelona, even a superstar needs people around them. Therefore the motto can only be: Everyone has to grow with Marko. “

With a win, Austria will certainly reach the round of 16 at a European football championship for the first time. With Ukraine having the better goal difference, Austria would stay behind their direct opponents with a draw, but would have a good chance of advancing as one of the top four thirds in the group. This would still be possible even in the event of a defeat.
