Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The urge for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to implement a strict lockdown (strict PSBB) or pull the ’emergency brake’ continues to roll on from health actors to the DPR. The DKI Jakarta Province is currently recording a very significant increase in the number of positive Corona viruses. On Sunday (20/6/2021), patients who were positively exposed to Covid-19 reached 5,582 cases, an increase from 4,895 cases the day before.
Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that his party was still waiting for the central government’s direction regarding this matter. This is the basis of the provincial government has not implemented the policy.
“We will discuss everything with the central government, later we will wait for the central government’s decision,” said Riza, quoted from detik.com, Sunday (20/6/2021).
Riza said the policy to withdraw the emergency brake had been considered. According to Riza, any policies related to PSBB must be coordinated with the central government so that there is harmony with the buffer zones.
“Yes, that was also a consideration in our discussion in our dialogue, but since the PPKM the authority has been centralized. So there is the authority of the regional government in order to maintain the harmony of the common rhythm between each province of Jakarta and the buffer zones with Banten with West Java, East Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta and so on, then the implementation of PPKM is the one who decides on the central government,” he said.
He added that the DKI Provincial Government is currently working to improve the implementation of health protocols. He appealed to the public not to travel and stay at home even during holidays.
“So far, we are trying to make the community carry out the protocol properly, strictly, we ask not to leave the house even on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, stay at home with the nuclear family. If necessary, do not visit anywhere, including other relatives outside our own home. So stay at home because the best place is at home,” said Riza.
