Sportkreistag adopts resolution – “Sport is part of the solution”

Osthessen (oz / pf) – The sports district day in the sports district Fulda-Hünfeld started last Monday in attendance. An important item on the agenda was the passing of a resolution that was unanimously adopted. The sports group will send this resolution to the municipalities, the district, the state government and the federal government.

“Our most important message is that sport is part of the solution: Politically recognizing the potential of sport and its social significance – enabling more sport,” emphasizes Harald Piaskowski, Chairman of the Fulda-Hünfeld Sports District.

The representative of the Hessian Swimming Association, Werner Freitag, subsequently made the following demand, which was not submitted to the delegates: “… calls on the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs to work for an uninterrupted and permanent opening of the daycare centers. This is the only way to deal with the social and motor deficits that have arisen ”.

The resolution in its wording:

“Coping with pandemics through sport

Sport is part of the solution: Politically recognizing the potential of sport and its social significance – enabling more sport

The corona pandemic poses major challenges for society as a whole. Sports, sports organizations and our club members are also affected by this serious crisis. The Landessportbund Hessen (lsb h), its clubs, associations and sports circles have been supporting the restrictions to combat the pandemic in solidarity since March 2020. In the past 14 months, the Hessian sports organizations have made a significant contribution to social stability through adapted offers, development of digital formats, compliance with hygiene requirements, responsible implementation of increasingly complex corona regulations, maintenance of communication structures in the sports system and by taking on shopping and neighborhood assistance.

The delegates of the Fulda-Hünfeld sports district convention call on politicians to recognize these important contributions by sports clubs and the potential of sport to cope with the pandemic and to use them more systematically than before. Against this background and on the basis of current scientific findings, the Sports District Association therefore calls for more sports outdoors and in sports halls to be made possible in the short term.

The sport-related requirements of the Infection Protection Act (so-called “Federal Emergency Brake”) disappointed us; they are unsystematic, confusing and impractical. To name just one of many examples, it is incomprehensible why the age limit for children’s sports was lowered from 14 years to 13 years. In any case, the current fight against pandemics should not be carried out on the back of children, but should be replaced by more balanced approaches. The differentiated Corona sports rules in Hesse and in many other federal states have been replaced by a pure “prohibition logic” without sufficient sports expertise. With regard to the “Federal Emergency Brake”, it should be noted that sport and sports clubs are obviously not valued by the Bundestag and the federal government ”.
