Emiliano Buendia: Aston Villa and Norwich agreed on a record transfer for the Argentine midfielder

Aston Villa beat Arsenal to agree to pay £ 33 million to sign Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City.

The 24-year-old midfielder will undergo a medical exam in Argentina, and the proposed measure will also be a record sale for Norwich, who rejected Arsenal’s offer.

Villa confirmed the deal Monday morning, adding that Buendía’s transfer will be completed after Argentina’s clash with Colombia on Tuesday night.

We take a look at some of the best parts of Emiliano Buendia from his two successful EFL campaigns.

The fee to pay for the villa could amount to almost £ 40 million with the extras.

Buendia was named the 2020-2021 Player of the Season after Norwich’s promotion to the Premier League.

He scored 15 goals and scored 16 assists, creating more chances than any other player in the division.

Buendía is currently part of the Argentina team preparing for the Copa América, but missed his first international appearance in a 1-1 draw with Chile on Friday.

Norwich signed Buendia from Getafe for just over £ 1 million in June 2018, and he has since scored 24 goals and provided 42 assists in his three years so far at Carrow Road.

Analysis: Villa doesn’t waste time adding creativity

Marca Gerrard Sky Sports:

Dean Smith hinted at the end of last season that creativity was a priority at the window, and they wasted so little time securing it at Buendía.

Jack Grealish’s absence for 12 games between February and May is all the evidence you need that most of Villa’s creative tasks rest on his shoulders. Villa won only 21 percent of their matches without him and they won 54 percent with their captain.

Buendia topped the charts of chances created (122), assists (16), and final third assists (735) in the championship last season, but for those who doubt his ability to move up in the division, there are his stats on the campaign from Norwich in the Premier. In the 2019/20 season, it was also clear that despite his relegation, Buendia finished fourth in the number of opportunities created (83), behind Kevin De Bruyne, Grealish and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

“Whether Grealish plays on the left from the front three next season or more centrally as player number 10, it can still be argued that Villa does not know his best position after having played him roughly 50-50 in both. areas since promotion to the Premier League, but wherever Grealish starts next season, Villa needs to push in wide areas.

“Although Bertrand Traore, Anouar El Ghazi and Trezeguet have scored important goals, there is a feeling that Villa needs something more consistent than wings, and the hope is that Buendía will provide it.

“Given how long Villa moved in that window, coupled with the blocking of Arsenal’s rivalry, it is a signing that Villa fans believe shows great ambition.
