NIPH government updates the travel map every week – and assesses for which countries and regions there should be requirements for quarantine and quarantine hotels.

Fresh numbers from the ECDC shows what their decision is can stay this week.

Poland has been red, because it was above the Norwegian authorities’ infection requirements. But now the country has been below the requirement for two weeks – and is about to be opened. The same goes for Romania and several regions in Finland, shows VGs travel advice overview.

In addition, it is likely that travelers from several regions in Sweden and Denmark releases quarantine hotel, and can take quarantine at home. Also Belgium, France, Hellas and Cyprus meets the requirement to release quarantine hotels.

When do we get the fasit? The government uses to decide on Thursday / Friday, and then new travel advice will apply from night to Monday, or sometimes from Friday / Saturday. In addition to seeing infection numbers and test numbers, they make an overall assessment.
What are yellow and red lands? You do not have to be quarantined when you arrive in Norway if you come from countries and areas that are colored yellow. If you come from a pink country, you need to be quarantined at home. If you come from a dark red country, you must quarantine in a hotel.
What if I have a green corona certificate? Then you get an exception from the quarantine, regardless of the colors on this map. You must still register on the entry form and test you on arrival in Norway.

What are the requirements for yellow, red and dark red?

Yellow country or territories have fewer than 25 infected per 100,000 inhabitants in the last two weeks and on average below 4 percent positive samples during the same period.
Red country or territories have between 25 and 150 infected per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days and fewer than 4 percent positive samples on average in the same period.
Dark red land has more than 150 infected per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days and / or more than 4 percent positive samples on average in the same period.
Gray land: Travelers from countries outside Europe must be in quarantine hotels regardless of how the infection situation is where they come from. Only countries in the EU / EEA UK that the government considers whether to be colored yellow.

Why do other sources report other numbers?

If you check the infection pressure for a country below the tab for world numbers in VG’s number overview or on various government websites, you may find other numbers than in travel advice overview. The reason is usually what date the numbers are from.

In order to be able to predict what changes the Norwegian authorities can make to the travel councils, VG must collect figures from the same number sources as FHI – and use the same calculation method.

FHI uses numbers from The European Infection Control Agency (ECDC), which collects figures from different countries, collects them and publishes figures once a week. The figures here are thus updated less frequently than the figures in VG’s world statistics. But it is still the figures from ECDC that are the right ones to use to calculate which countries are likely to turn yellow or red – and which countries may be required to quarantine hotels. This is because these are the figures the Norwegian authorities relate to.

For regions in the Nordic region, FHI collects figures directly from the Danish, Swedish and Finnish infection control agencies. They do the same for the UK. VG picks up the numbers from the same place.

About the figures on Swedish FHM’s website: Note that the Norwegian authorities’ requirement is that a country must have less than 25 (or 150) cases per 100,000 inhabitants in total last two weeks. It is not cut of the last two weeks, as FHM shows on its website.
