There was no crowd on Place Masséna. About sixty trade unionists expressed their dissatisfaction. They nevertheless came to the national appeal launched by the CGT throughout France. The message remains the same from last year. Salary increase and improvement of the daily life of civil servants.
“In France, we are a macho country that does not pay women their fair value.” Since the announcement of the conclusions of the health segur, the pressure has not abated. In their sights, the increase of 183 euros promised to social and medico-social staff of public hospitals. “We have nurses paid 1800 euros. We are very far from the OECD average”, launches Stéphane Gauberti, secretary general of the CGT CHU de Nice. This has direct consequences on future recruitments: “The loss of attractiveness of the profession is due to deleterious managerial methods. The upgrading of current careers in the public service is a scandal. This has the consequence of extending careers despite the arduous nature of the job “, adds Delphine Girard secretary USD CGT 06.
A deteriorating situation
From the outset, Delphine Girard announces the color “100,000 hospital beds which have closed in 20 years.” Add to that “a chronic shortage of personnel” or “the public research sector in agony.” But they held on to the good end despite the pandemic that has passed through there. “We took on this first wave in unacceptable conditions. To cope with the covid, beds had to be opened urgently.”
According to them, they are not supported enough by the government to be able to work with dignity. Nor from the management of the various hospitals. They “would follow national guidelines and therefore do not support us, because they do not care”, according to the trade unionist. “Colleagues often report the working conditions which are bad, lack of means. Salaries are always very low. Despite the segur of health, Portugal is ahead of us for example. They prefer to go to hospitals or private clinics. In your opinion, why do they not pay substantial salaries. Because we have a feminized profession “, asserts Stéphane Gauberti.
A very festive gathering
A good part of the troops preferred, it seems, the joy of the France-Germany match. To compensate for this lack, the entertainment world is never far away. Among them, there was Jean Louis Ruf, CGT Spectacle des Alpes-Maritimes delegate. Music and singing were on the program for this small committee event. The goal is clearly to be able to breathe and attract onlookers around.
Among this small world, there was the branch of Psychologists, social action, the Montjoye association, the genetics and bacteriology laboratories, the hospitals of Chin, Grasse and Antibes, the SAMU, the ambulance, the AFPJR … As a reminder, there were more than 260 gatherings last year across the country. In Nice, this represented around 2,000 people.
