Elche keeps the blue flags and Santa Pola gets one more | Radio Elche

The European Foundation for Environmental Education has released today the list of beaches that this year achieve the distinction of Blue flag. It is a European distinctive that since 1987 has recognized the quality of water, sand and beach services and Spain and the Valencian Community and the province of Alicante usually lead the ranking.

This year again Elche get 5 blue flags for the Arenales Sur beach, Carabassí, Las pesqueras-El Rebollo, La Marina and El Altet. El Pinet always stays out of the old chalets built on the beach.

In the case of Santa Pola, the town has obtained this year 6 blue flags, for the first time you get one for the Ermita Beach. they also have a blue flag Varadero, Levante Beach, Tamarit, Calas de Santiago Bernabéu and Calas del Este.

The criteria for obtaining the Blue Flag are grouped into four areas: Bathing water quality, Information and environmental education, Environmental management and Safety, services and facilities.
