Óscar Alejandro Rangel Rivera, is a teacher who teaches primary school classes in Monclova colonies, which began as a project dedicated only to a part of his students who did not connect to online education, it became an activity that already It reached the most remote sectors of the municipality where children do not have technology equipment, much less an internet signal to be able to learn new knowledge and skills.
The teacher applied the saying “if the mountain does not come to me, I will go to the mountain”, after he saw that 30 percent of each of his student groups did not take the online classes.
For three weeks he has left his house in his vehicle, with an awning, a table and chairs to teach mathematics and Spanish to his students from the Vicente Guerrero and Ramón Guevara schools who live in La Margarito, Azteca, Independencia, Ciudad Deportiva and Miravalle.
“Today we must all be working for our country, for our state, for our city, and that’s what I do, it’s that simple, I don’t have a master’s, doctorate, postgraduate degree, I just love my profession, I love what I do and That is what my family sees and that is why I feel very proud. When they are happy for what I do, it makes me happy, “he said.
Óscar is originally from Monclova, he is 35 years old and has practiced his profession for 10 years, he is a graduate of the Benemérita Normal School of Saltillo and it is not the first time that he dedicates his time to his students and it is before he declared himself The COVID-19 pandemic was dedicated to teaching children on Saturdays and Sundays to participate in the Olympiad of Knowledge.
EDUCATION THAT MEANS
He considers that when a person is educated, his life is dignified, that is why his project began to develop three weeks ago and fortunately it is working for him because as a result of sharing on social networks a publication of what he has been doing more 30 parents have contacted him to teach the children of Colinas de Santiago and Campanario.
“It is not fair to me that my salary is being paid in full and I receive constant education and my students are not doing it,” he commented.
Two days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, he offers face-to-face classes, in addition to assigning homework to the toddlers to be able to return and see that they have really understood the issues because otherwise his project would be futile and without a function .
“I am a teacher and my mission is to educate the children of my country, those of my state but first of all those of my community, we are a family of teachers with small children and as long as my wife gives me time and my children see that I am working I think is my mission, “he said.
Since January it occurred to him to go to the sectors to give face-to-face classes but because there were many infections, deaths from coronavirus and few people were vaccinated, he did not dare to do so.
However, having received the dose of Covid-19 and seeing that 70 percent of the population is immunized, he decided to carry out his project.
“Now what I want is to spend a little more time because many colleagues and friends sent me messages to go to their neighborhoods to give a five-hour class,” he mentioned.
CHILDREN NEED TO SOCIALIZE
His idea is aimed at that minors also live together, not physically but socialize because by socializing they will understand the issues more.
He explained that in the first class he was able to verify that the children learned reasoning problems in a few hours, which they had been working for 15 days in online classes and many had errors.
He thanked the parents who have allowed their children to receive the classes, as well as those who have really supported a lot in this pandemic, especially the mothers because they increased their work at home.
TRAIN STUDENTS FOR THE OLYMPIC
Óscar Alejandro Rangel Rivera, has dedicated himself to training 12 students for the Knowledge Olympiad, two of them had the opportunity to spend a week with the President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
“I do this work out of altruism and I will continue to do it simply to contribute something to my community,” he said.
In recent years, it has served the fifth and sixth year groups of primary school, of which 12 have managed to prepare for the Olympiad of knowledge to receive scholarships to enter prestigious schools.
