Al Aqsa Mosque is raided by Rabbis and Israeli settlers.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JERUSALEM-Israeli right-wing rabbi Yehuda Glick on Tuesday (15/6) forced his way into the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in occupied East Jerusalem.
Glick, who is a former member of the Knesset (Israel’s parliament) uploaded a video of himself visiting a site that became a flashpoint for the conflict between Israel and Israel Palestine and Israel.
“We pray that this government achieves peace between us, to move us to a comfortable economy, security and compassion between us,” Glick said of Israel’s new coalition government approved by the Knesset over the weekend. Anatolia Agency, Wednesday (16/6).
Dozens Israeli settlers also raided the al-Aqsa mosque complex through the Al-Mughrabi Gate, southwest of the mosque, under Israeli police protection.
Israeli police began authorizing settler attacks in 2003, despite repeated criticism by the Department of Islamic Endowments, which oversees religious sites in Jerusalem.
Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in the world for Muslims. The Jews call the area the “Temple Mount”, claiming that it was the site of two Jewish temples in ancient times.
Israel occupied East Jerusalem, where Al-Aqsa is located, during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. Israel then annexed the entire city of Jerusalem in 1980. However, the move was never recognized by the international community.
