Except for a few remaining seats, the limited tickets for the last flag football games of the Mostviertel Bastards youth were sold out immediately – after all, some of the talents made their debut on the grass. “The 140 spectators ensured a great atmosphere and finally a real football atmosphere again on both days,” said Bastards chairman Franz Theuretzbacher happily.
Results are cause for joy
The results in Sarling were also cause for joy. Initially, there were three games on the program for the U11 on Saturday. In the game community with the Klosterneuburg Indians, the Bastards had to compete with the favorites, the Dark Angels – 12:32 defeat.
The fact that they could keep up here was rewarded in the games against the Carinthian Eagles Villach and Projekt Spielberg Graz Giants – these were won by the Indians / Bastards with 30:12 and 24: 6 respectively. So you move into the U11 final with second place in the regular season and only one defeat.
It was similarly pleasing on Sunday in the U17 championship, where the Bastards have a syndicate with the Dark Angels. Here, too, you had to go straight against the favorite – this time the Indians Klosterneuburg. “We were able to show good defense performance over long stretches, but the offense, especially in the passing game over longer distances, did not work,” said Theuretzbacher, analyzing the ultimately clear 6:42 defeat.
With a Derby victory to the final
The subsequent “double derby” against the syndicate Vienna Constables / Amstetten Thunder was largely evened out, but the Bastards / Dark Angels had the edge. They won 39:19 and with a total of three wins and two defeats they also got the ticket for the final. The final will now take place on June 26th and 27th in Amstetten. “The days of the finals mean that we can expect a worthy end to the season,” says Theuretzbacher happily.
