Hamburg (dpa / lno) – The CDU parliamentary group has asked the science authority to back up its plans for classroom teaching at Hamburg’s universities with concrete concepts. “A simple announcement from the science authority that the winter semester would take place again in attendance is not enough,” said the CDU science expert Anke Frieling on Tuesday. It must be ensured that the colleges and universities actually remain open despite Corona.
“Many will be vaccinated by autumn – those who are not must be offered a vaccination during the semester break so that they are fully vaccinated by the beginning of the semester,” said Frieling. Anyone who does not want to or cannot be vaccinated must be tested. There must also be a concept for the case of selective corona outbreaks in the university context. Comprehensive preparations have to be made for this, demands the CDU in a citizenship application. “Of course that means extra work and effort, but it really has to be finite!”
Hamburg’s students are one of the hardest hit by the corona pandemic. On the one hand, they have not been allowed to enter their universities for three semesters and only have online lessons. On the other hand, many have got into financial hardship because most of the classic student jobs, for example in bars and pubs, have collapsed due to the corona pandemic.
Science Senator Katharina Fegebank (Greens) announced at the beginning of the month that students should return to their universities in October after three online semesters. The specific design is currently being worked out by universities and the authorities. The focus of the planning would be contact and hygiene regulations, corona tests and the development of vaccination rates and infection rates.
