A man ended up in hospital after a fire in his bungalow on the night of Monday to Tuesday in Granby, in Montérégie.
The alert was given around 11 p.m. for the start of a fire in the kitchen of the house located on rue Saint-Viateur, near rue Cabana.
When the fortnight of firefighters arrived, a man was missing. He was found unconscious inside the residence by the emergency services who evacuated him.
The victim, who lived alone, was rushed to a hospital by paramedics.
The fire was quickly brought under control, but the damage was considerable, said Claude Royer, head of the prevention division of the City of Granby’s fire department.
The cause of the fire would be linked to human error, added Royer, adding that checks were still underway.
The one-storey residence is currently “uninhabitable”.
