Not a single month goes by without hearing about Twitter. This time, it’s a new feature that would be in full reflection at the level of internal teams, namely the blocking of mention. Another way to protect users from harassment.
Twitter considers mention blocking to protect its users
Twitter is surely the most influential social network today. In the media world, everyone uses Twitter, be it politicians, top athletes and even the TV newspaper in certain sections.
This is why managers are working hard to provide the smoothest and most enjoyable experience possible for its users. Recently we have seen the arrival of Twitter Blue, a kind of monthly subscription that gives access to some premium features but there may be others coming soon.
The first idea would be to deactivate the function “mention”. So when it’s not active or personalized to your liking (depending on the account), some people won’t be able to mention you in one of their tweet. What no longer be disturbed or even harassed when the subject requires several responses and therefore sends you a notification each time. A simpler and more effective way than waiting to see a negative message to block the person in question.
Sometimes you want to talk, and sometimes you just … don’t.
Check out these early concepts that could help control unwanted attention on Twitter.

The second would always be being able to block mentions, but this time for a defined number of days. So, you can imagine setting this function when you want to be more peaceful during your vacation …
These new features may not be kept and distributed to the general public, but what is certain is that they could once again bring peace of mind to users. A subject that is so important in a digital world where harassment is more and more frequent and intense through social networks, especially among the youngest.
