The famous fail – El Sol de Puebla

Most famous people who ran for public office in the last June 6 election suffered resounding defeats.

The actors, wrestlers, singers, footballers, athletes, television hosts, youtubers, models and other celebrities, as well as family members, did not triumph, except for the singer Rocío Banquells and the Olympic diver Rommel Pacheco. Rocío was elected Federal Deputy for Mexico City (PRI-PAN-PRD) and Pacheco is Federal Deputy (PAN) for Yucatán.

There are those who were a candidate for multi-member deputy and it will depend on the place on the list, as in the case of Marco Flores, singer and leader of the Jerez Band who was enlisted in Zacatecas by Morena.

In Puebla, the television host Sandra Ortiz lost the Federal Council for Puebla Capital (PVEM). In Nuevo León, the driver Fernando Lozano lost the Local Council (PRI).

Lupita Jones, former Miss Universe was a candidate for Governor of Baja California (PRI-PAN-PRD) and lost; Honorina Arroyo Gómez, winner of Master Chef Mexico wanted to be Mayor of Atlangatepec, Tlaxcala (RSP) and lost.

Former footballers Adolfo Bofo Bautista, candidates for Federal Deputy for Jalisco (PES) and Francisco Javier Grandpa Cruz por Nuevo León (PES), neither of them arrived.

In the cases of actors, Alfredo Adame could not be Federal Deputy for Mexico City (RSP); Carlos Villagrán Quico, aspired to Governor of Querétaro (PQI), but declined from the electoral contest; Sugey Ábrego was a candidate for Local Deputy for Mexico City (PVEM) she lost.

From the same union, Arturo Carmona, candidate for Federal Deputy for Nuevo León (PRI) and Gabriela Goldsmith, candidate for Federal Deputy for Naucalpan (Morena), were not elected.

Others without luck, were the famous singers Ernesto D´Alessio, Ernesto Vargas Contreras, who aspired to Governor of Nuevo León (PES), but withdrew from the electoral contest, Paquita la del Barrio, whose real name is Francisca Viveros Barradas, candidate a Local Deputy for Veracruz (MC).

Other singers who did not arrive were Héctor Hernández, former vocalist from Los Ángeles Azules, candidate for Mayor of Iztapalapa (RSP); Vicente Fernández Jr., candidate for Local Deputy (PES) for Zapopan, Jalisco and José Joel, José Francisco Carmelo Augusto Sosa, son of José José, who ran for the PES in a Local District of CDMX.

The Flor Véliz model could not be Mayor of San Nicolás, Nuevo León (PRI); Former Big Brother Patricio “Pato” Zambrano was not a Local Deputy for Nuevo León (PRI) either.

They lost the three wrestlers aspiring to mayoralties for RSP, that of Gustavo A. Madero, Venustiano Carranza and Cuauhtémoc, the famous Blue Demon Jr. whose name is Toshimi Jacob Hira Ugalde, Manuel Leal El Tinieblas and Esaú Miguel Flores Tapia known as Carístico, respectively.

Other losers were Zudikey Rodríguez, Exatlón participant, as candidate for Municipal President of Valle de Bravo, State of Mexico (PRI-PAN-PRD); Ignacio Peregrín Schüll, brother of the singer Belinda, candidate for Local Deputy of Mexico City (Morena); Sergio Mayer, former Garibaldi and dancer, lost a Local District of CDMX (Morena).

Other registered cases are Raúl Alcalá, a former international cyclist, who lost the Federal Council (PRI) in Nuevo León and Edith Aparicio, sister of actress Yalitza Aparicio, candidate (PRI-PAN-PRD) for federal legislator in Oaxaca.

As it is observed, the fame and the knowledge of the public do not guarantee that the famous arrive at the popular representation. Perhaps it has influenced past cases and especially the mismanagement of a state government like Morelos, in the hands – or shall we say in the feet – of the soccer player Cuauhtémoc Blanco, who was a great footballer, but a lousy public administrator.
