MOSCOW, June 14 (Xinhua) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has denounced the actions aimed at creating tensions between Moscow and Beijing, stressing that China is a strategic partner of Russia, not a threat.
“We can see attempts to destroy relations between Russia and China. We can see that these attempts are deployed within the framework of concrete policies,” Putin said in an interview with US television network NBC which reported aired on Monday.
“We are satisfied with the unprecedented high level of our relationship which has evolved over the past decades. We cherish them just as our Chinese friends do, which we can see,” he said.
The Russian president praised the “high level of confidence and cooperation in all fields” between the two countries, whether in the political, economic, technological or military field.
“We don’t believe that China is a threat to us. China is a friendly nation. It hasn’t declared us enemies like the United States has,” he said.
China, a large and powerful country, has developed with a dynamic economy and a huge volume of foreign trade, he added.
“We have worked with China and we will continue to do so, which applies to all kinds of programs, including deep space exploration,” the Russian leader concluded. End
