The company could be fined € 55 million and blocked because it refuses to cooperate with the German authorities.
In Germany, Telegram faces a € 55 million fine, as the company does not have a contact person to communicate with the state about the distribution of content that violates the law. About it informs Der Spiegel on Monday 14 June.
Moreover, if the company refuses to cooperate with the authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany, then the application in the country may be blocked.
The German Ministry of Justice requires, in particular, that the messenger promptly remove illegal content in posts and actively share user data necessary for investigations. The Federal Office of Justice, controlled by the Ministry of Justice, has already initiated proceedings against Telegram.
At the moment, the German authorities have the address of the messenger’s representative office in Dubai, but investigators say there is no point in sending requests there, since they never received a response from the company when they tried to find out who is behind the account in the messenger on which the crimes are committed.
Recall that EU and Britain launch investigations against Facebook… The social network is suspected of misusing user data and violating antitrust laws.
It was also reported that US President Joe Biden overturns Trump’s TikTok ban… The head of the White House overturned the decisions of his predecessor regarding two Chinese companies.
