The June session of the Assize court from Some opened this Monday, June 14, 2021 to end on Friday July 2 with the verdict of the sixth trial entered on the roll.
The session is dominated by rapes and sexual assault which were committed in the narrow circle of relations family.
A case in the juvenile assize court
For the first trial of the session, which will take place from this day, June 14, to June 16, the magistrates and jurors are constituted in court of assizes of minors to judge an accused who was a minor at the time of the facts. He is accused of rapes, d’sexual assault on the children under 15, which he allegedly committed in the Manche center, in Carantilly, Quibou and Coutances, 2009 and 2016.
For all cases concerning minors, even if they have reached the age of majority on the date of their trial, a closed session is required.
In the Center and South Manche
On June 17 and 18, an accused will have to answer foran incendiary gesture committed in Saint-Cyr-du-Bailleul in the South Manche on June 27, 2015 on the remains of a 52-year-old man, who, seriously burned, was transported by helicopter to the Nantes University Hospital. He appears for destruction of property by a means dangerous for people, and for failing to assist a person in danger.
June 21 and 22, a 33 year old man is tried on the charge of rapes committed in Rémilly-sur-Lozon between 2010 and 2012 on the children of his sister-in-law, aged 6 to 10 years at the time of the facts.
On appeal, rapes committed in Calvados
Two cases are resumed trials whose decisions of the Assize Court were contested by the convicts: a young man who denies having raped her friend in Caen, one night in July 2017, and a man, sentenced in Caen for having committed incestuous rapes and sexual assault on a minor victim in a village in Calvados, between 2012 and 2014.
In Urville-Nacqueville, accused of attempted murder on his grandmother
The only case concerning the jurisdiction of court of Cherbourg, that is to say the Cotentin, is the trial of a man who, in September 2018, in Urville-Nacqueville, assaulted and tried to kill his grandmother. The trial is the last of the session, it will take place on July 1 and 2.
