Colombia won against Ecuador (1-0) on Sunday for their entry into the Copa America competition. Edwin Cardona scored the only goal of the game on a combination recited to perfection from a free kick.
Double-a-two, outside of the right foot, return of the header and goal! Football is sometimes as simple as a score recited to perfection. This is how Colombia scored the only goal of the match against Ecuador on Sunday (1-0) for its entry into the Copa America.
It all started with a free kick about thirty meters from the opposing goal. Rather than sending the ball “in the box”, the shooter (Cardona) called on Juan Cuadrado at the entrance of the penalty area.
The two midfielders traded a double-one-two before the Juventus player crossed from outside with his right foot to the header of striker Miguel Borja. The latter was perfectly put in the race of… Cardona who had continued his action to resume a volley and deceive the opposing goalkeeper, Pedro Ortiz.
This is the only goal of the meeting for the Cafeteros, who provided most of the response to Brazil, wide winner of Venezuela (3-0) a few hours earlier. Reinaldo Ruera Rivera’s men, 2nd in Group B behind Brazil, now have an appointment Thursday for their second meeting against Venezuela.
