In August 2020, the Oberschmids’ plumber’s shop in Staufen was overrun by rain. They are still struggling with the consequences. What has happened so far?

Rain, only rain and then high tide, mud and water masses everywhere: This is what the Wertinger and Hohenreicheners experienced on the Sunday of last week. Gerhard and Martina Oberschmid did it just under a year ago when the rain swelled the dwarf stream in the Staufen district of Syrgenstein. The dwarf briefly turned into a giant that brought vast amounts of water into the district. A year later the sky is rumbling ominously again when you drive into the Bachtal to find out from the Oberschmids how things have fared them since then.
