They will open earlier than expected, and given the expected heat, this is good news: the City of Lyon has decided to bring the opening of the swimming pools forward.
In addition, the municipality has made other announcements: staggered schedules, adaptation of tariffs, ephemeral swimming pool of the Tête d’Or… We take stock.
Swimming pools open from the 17th
The municipal swimming pools will reopen their doors from June 17, except the Center Nautique Tony Bertrand, which opened on June 3. The detail :
- Gerland swimming pool on June 17th
- Swimming pools of the Duchère and Mermoz the 1is July
- The Tête d’Or ephemeral swimming pool on June 18
Extended hours have been adopteds, in particular allowing swimming pools to open from mid-morning. In order to reduce queues and to respect health conditions as well as possible, a mixed ticketing system on site and online ticketing is put in place.
As in 2020, everyone will have to reserve a time slot.
The return of the Tête d’Or swimming pool
The Tête d’Or ephemeral swimming pool experience was a success in 2020. It is therefore being renewed this summer. The City expects to receive, throughout the summer, up to 45,000 people.
In the morning, the swimming pool will be dedicated to welcoming social structures.
“Less intended for swimmers, this equipment is primarily intended for families” recalls the town hall, then detailing the infrastructures: “It constitutes an additional nautical equipment, fun, composed of pools, water games (accessible to people with reduced mobility) and ‘a 2,000 m² beach with dedicated furniture offering areas for reading, relaxation, games and shaded areas. “
Work until 2026
The municipality has also decided to renovate and create new municipal swimming pools by 2026.
Thus, several projects are underway:
- A new municipal swimming pool in the 8e district: “the project consists of integrating the swimming pool on the ground floor of a sports complex including a gymnasium and sports activity rooms, replacing the current gymnasium”
- New swimming pool in Francheville, on the border with Tassin (the Aquavert swimming pool), to be delivered in 2025
- Gerland swimming pool: “a recovery and rehabilitation-extension of the existing municipal swimming pool is planned”.
- The Charial sports complex: major works are planned to allow it to open in summer. “These important works could be scheduled to open the establishment during the summer of 2023”.
We will especially be able to cool off this summer, and that is what matters!
