“The days when global decisions were dictated by a small group of countries are long gone,” said a spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in London.

The rise of China as a leading global power is considered one of the most significant geopolitical events of recent times, alongside the 1991 fall of the Soviet Union that ended the Cold War.
The G7, whose leaders meet in Britain, has been seeking a coherent response to President Xi Jinping’s increasing assertiveness after China’s spectacular economic and military rise over the past 40 years.

The group is known to support a new global plan to help poor countries build infrastructure. The global plan, conceived by the United States (US), is an attempt to challenge China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
The administration of US President Joe Biden said the G7 leaders approved the launch of the Build Back Better World (B3W) plan. This plan will help narrow the USD 40 trillion infrastructure gap in developing countries.
