Longoria has reportedly already targeted a keeper to succeed Mandanda

Zapping Foot National Top 10: Ligue 1’s top scorers in activity

While Steve Mandanda celebrated his 450th match with OM in Ligue 1 with a victory against Brest last Saturday, the new president of Olympique de Marseille, Pablo Longoria, has already targeted a goalkeeper to replace the Marseille goalkeeper, who will turn 36 at the end of the month. The club legend, who has 584 games in total with OM, should not hang up anytime soon but Longoria does not want to wait until the last moment to prepare for the future and the succession of the 2018 world champion.

A young goalkeeper

According to Foot Mercato, the player targeted by Pablo Longoria would be Joaquín Blázquez, who plays as a goalkeeper for CA Talleres in the Argentine first division. This transfer could easily be done, given that Longoria already knows the young goalkeeper for having brought him to Valencia during the 2018-2019 financial year. And a player in the workforce could also have a role to play, namely Leonardo Balerdi, the Argentine defender of the Marseille club. The two men are teammates in Argentina’s U23 selection and if Balerdi remains at OM next season, that could be one more argument for Blásquez. File to follow therefore.
