A former Quebec police officer wins the 17th Million Tanguay

Newly millionaire, a retired couple from Saint-Victor were moved to tears on Saturday morning when they realized that their dreams were now within reach.

“I don’t realize it yet, it’s crazy stiff! It’s an exceptional feeling, ”dropped Marcel Pelletier, who was barely recovering from his emotions.

The former Quebec police officer was one of the eight finalists of the 17e edition of the “La Vente du Million” contest, offered by Ameublements Tanguay inc., the final draw of which took place live on the program Hi hello weekend on TVA, Saturday morning.

Mr. Pelletier intends to first realize the dream of his wife, Monique L’Abbé, of making a romantic trip to Greece, before spoiling himself by purchasing a Porsche, a car he has admired since his childhood.

But first, he will make sure that his two children are not lacking for anything by paying their respective mortgages.

Serendipity

It was by serendipity that the 66-year-old entered the competition, which ran from March 15 to June 6. His dryer failed and the repairman who came to inspect it told him that there was nothing to be done, that he had to buy a new one.

“I said to myself: let’s go and buy the washer too. It does well, it’s the Million Sale. It was a profitable purchase! ”Said Mr. Pelletier, laughing.

On the television set, Charles Tanguay, vice-president of sales and finance of Ameublements Tanguay inc. couldn’t be happier.

“It’s always an extraordinary event, we never get used to giving our clients $ 1 million. It’s always a great experience, ”says Mr. Tanguay.

A special year

Despite the particular context of this year, with the pandemic and the death of Maurice Tanguay, his grandson emphasized the support of his customers through the storm.

“It is heartwarming. It’s been a difficult year, but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We really had a great outpouring of solidarity from all Quebecers, ”said Charles Tanguay.

Note that the other seven finalists of the competition did not leave empty-handed. Like Mr. Pelletier, they all received an Ameublements Tanguay gift card worth $ 5,000.
