The striker suffered a lot of criticism from some fans who did not approve of Gabigol’s stance in not re-presenting himself to Flamengo after the club’s determination. In the publication of Robson Alves, known on Instagram for videos involving Rubro-Negro, the father of shirt 9, Valdemir Silva Almeida, asked them to look for the truth before accusing him.
“I wasn’t even supposed to come back in the second half of the Libertadores final… Blown out ankle, asked for a shot… He came back and gave you the title after 38 years… so respect and find out the truth before criticizing him. Ridiculous and inexplicable that”, wrote Valdemir.

According to the athlete’s fatigue, Flamengo himself had the veto of the game last Thursday (10), against Coritiba, at the Couto Pereira Stadium, for the Copa do Brasil. The club, however, denies it. On the eve of the duel, Rubro-Negro was bothered by the absence of the striker in Curitiba for reassessment, as determined from the knowledge about the swelling in the thigh.
Gabigol is focused on the Seleção for the Copa America commitments. Canarinho’s debut is scheduled to take place this Sunday (13th), at 6 pm (Brasilia time), at the Mané Garrincha Stadium. On the same day, two hours earlier, Flamengo goes to the field for the third round of Brasileirão, against América-MG, at Maracanã.
