Tickets for the crossover benefit concert are now available

The date for the crossover benefit concert of the Würzburg printing and media company is actually always in late autumn. After the four organizers (Koenig & Bauer, Main-Post, Robert Krick Verlag and Vogel) had to cancel the concert planned for November 2020 due to corona, the new date has now been set. On Friday, July 9th, there will be good music again in the Vogel Convention Center ?? and for a good cause. The benefit concert is taking place for the 15th time.

Personalities, organizations and service clubs from the Würzburg society support this extraordinary event and the “good cause” it promotes. So far, the series has raised almost 750,000 euros in donations in this way and distributed it to a total of 26 funding projects.

David Brandstätter (Managing Director Main-Post), Klaus Mapara (Managing Director Robert Krick Verlag), Claus Bolza-Schünemann (former CEO Koenig & Bauer) and Gunther Schunk (Head of Communications Vogel Communications Group) answer the most important questions about the concert:

Question: How did the four organizers manage to get the crossover benefit concert off the ground this year despite the pandemic conditions?

David Brandstätter: So far, our joint benefit concert has always taken place in November. With up to 850 people. Due to the pandemic, we postponed the concert, for the first time to the summer and with probably “only” 230 guests. But we definitely want to celebrate our 15th concert anniversary and of course use the donations to support great projects again. Unthinkable if both were missing. My tip: be sure to be there!

What are the special features of the concert this year?

Klaus Mapara: It is this combination of a musical crossover journey of discovery and interesting, worthy funding projects. In any case, you always go home very satisfied afterwards. The overall concept has proven itself and the benefit concert has become a strong brand with which we can always make a difference in our heads, emotions and in the city.

Which artistic highlights can visitors look forward to?

Claus Bolza-Schünemann: Sub5, these five new voices in the German a cappella sky, are a real discovery. Very virtuoso, original, personable and entertaining! That alone is worth seeing and hearing. There is also the musically highly creative trio with Lutz Krajenski on the Hammond organ, who will take us into completely new spheres of this instrument. By the way, both groups have never performed together, so this is a real premiere here in Würzburg.

Which projects are supported this time?

Gunther Schunk: The music school association “Willkommen mit Musik” is an integrative music school that aims to enable young people in Würzburg to take part in cultural life. With and without migration experience. That goes perfectly with a crossover concert, of course, which already overcomes musical boundaries per se. And with the second project, “Zukunftshaus Würzburg”, we want to promote a committed initiative that focuses entirely on sustainable business and sustainable consumption and thus specifically shows future models and a lifestyle that conserves resources.
