The planned filming of the Hanau attack by director Uwe Boll is causing a sensation in the region. First the director had stated in a statement on Facebook that no sponsors had been found for the film and that the project had been put on hold. Later he tells the Hessischer Rundfunk (hr) that the film has already been shot and should be released in the summer (we reported). But what does the Kinopolis in Hanau actually say about the film?
“Basically, film can be a medium to address social events and, if necessary, to process them. Personally, I currently see the film project far too early to be able to show it in Hanau, and this film would have to be in front of you Use first to be sighted in order to recognize how the filmmakers deal with the topic here.
Clearly, the issue must be dealt with very sensitively and should not be exploited to the detriment of the damaged families. It is not without reason that this film has not received any approval in the film industry, “says Patrick Schubert Operations manager of the Kinopolis Hanau. When asked by KINZIG.NEWS, the head of marketing at Kinopolis, Kurt Schalk, also said that with this sensitive topic, one had to watch the film carefully beforehand.
In March, Boll caused a stir after it became public that he wanted to film the racially motivated attack in Hanau on February 19, 2020. The city of Hanau and family members of the victims asked the director in an open letter to refrain from the project.
