Should one take out insurance individually as a policy or as a package?
Packages often make no sense because they contain products that are either unnecessary, such as luggage insurance, or contain insurance that you may already have, such as private accident insurance.

From the point of view of the consumer center Saxony, two travel insurances are important:

- the international travel health insurance
- the travel cancellation insurance

Anyone traveling abroad with a rental car should think of a so-called Mallorca policy as a supplement to their vehicle insurance. This extends the coverage of the motor vehicle liability insurance.

Because of Corona there is the so-called Corona Police. Is such an additional insurance necessary? What is on offer?
Various insurers offer additional corona protection as part of their travel cancellation or travel interruption insurance, which regularly costs additional. Payment is then also made, for example, if the trip cannot be commenced due to an officially ordered quarantine. We cannot make a general recommendation for such additional protection. In individual cases, with very expensive trips booked well in advance, the additional protection can still make sense.
