CEPSA will dismantle and decontaminate the Santa Cruz de Tenerife refinery in 2022. According to what the Minister of Ecological Transition, José Antonio Valbuena, has announced at the parliamentary headquarters, the month in which the work will begin has yet to be defined.
Likewise, Valbuena has asserted that the Government will monitor the progress: “We will terminate the dismantling when we have the guarantee that all the land that it occupied in the past and that the refinery currently occupies are fully decontaminated.”
Regarding financing, the counselor has insisted that “not a single public euro will be invested either directly or indirectly through urban requalifications” so that CEPSA “complies with what it has to do, and that is to leave those soils clean “.
The key dates will be defined within a maximum period of two months. Once the actions are finished, it will be the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council that has to manage the future and the uses of the space.
