There is usually no football championship without very divided opinions about the opening ceremony. This year was no exception.

The feed boiled when an occasional computer-animated show took over the opening ceremony in Rome, and many football lovers were quickly out with the slaughter knife.

– Opening ceremonies have nothing to do with a football match. Have it on a separate day if people absolutely must have it. This kills the whole prelude to the match, says Eurosport commentator Petter Bø Tosterud.

Several others were very skeptical of what was delivered in the Italian capital, but that was until Andrea Bocelli began to sing.
