a clear drop in Côte-d’Or, which is no longer the most affected department in France

Last Tuesday, the health authorities held a press conference to recall that the epidemic is still present, especially in Côte-d’Or where the incidence rate was the highest in all of metropolitan France. But if it is still too early to move on, the latest update from the Regional Health Agency still gives some reassuring news.

Thus, the decline in the epidemic is significant in all the departments of the region, “including Côte-d’Or”: the incidence rate is everywhere below 100 per 100,000 inhabitants, and the regional average s. he is even approaching the alert threshold (50/100 000 as a reminder), since it is around 65 per 100,000. If the Côte-d’Or is not there yet, its incidence is nonetheless of 92 per 100,000, a significant drop in seven days. For people over 65, the incidence is even below the alert threshold: 36 per 100,000.

The noose is gradually loosening on hospitals

As a result of this decline in the epidemic, hospital pressure is decreasing. There are nearly 500 people hospitalized due to Covid-19 in the region, including 70 in critical care or resuscitation. On the Côte-d’Or side, 131 people are hospitalized, including 18 in critical care or resuscitation.

Unfortunately, the epidemic continues to be fatal in the department: in one week, six people died in hospitals according to Public Health France. The provisional toll for the Côte-d’Or is 933 people who died from the coronavirus in health centers.

In Bourgogne Franche-Comté, 4,788 people died in health establishments and 2,294 in medico-social establishments.

“Immunize everyone without delay to gain collective immunity”

Health authorities are clearly focusing their efforts on vaccination. The message is clear: “Get vaccinated all and without waiting to gain collective immunity”. Next week, thousands of slots will be available in all vaccination centers: more than 6,000 in Jura or Saône-et-Loire, 3,500 in Haute-Saône, 4,900 in Côte-d’Or, more a thousand in the Nièvre, around 2,200 in the Yonne, 7,800 in the Territoire de Belfort, more than 10,000 in the Doubs. “It is therefore possible to access vaccination easily and without delay, in the vicinity”, comments the ARS.

So far, 75% of those over 50 have received at least one dose of the vaccine in the region, but less than 22% of those under 50. The ARS therefore wants to focus on this part of the population. “The vaccination coverage is encouraging, but the room for improvement is significant to prevent an epidemic rebound.” From Tuesday, June 15, vaccination will be extended to 12 – 18 year olds.

“The approach of summer should not lead to postponing the process. If the appointment made online for the 2nd injection is not suitable due to going on vacation, it will be possible to move it during the first visit to center, so that it is fixed on a time compatible with its personal organization “, explain the health authorities.
