Benfica reacted in a statement to the outcome of the match with Sporting, the third of the playoff final of Liga Placard, won by the lions 2-1, more specifically because of the goal that won the opponent’s victory. All because, in his opinion, the game was “decided by a goal in which the ball, evidently, does not go all the way into the goal, as the rules dictate”.

In the press release, the Luz club began by praising the quality of the match, but said it felt “once more harmed”, demanding “respect both from the Portuguese Football Federation and from the referees”.
