WHO: New waves of infection could hit Europe

– We are far from out of danger, and we call for continued great caution, says Hans Kluge, director of Europe in the World Health Organization.

At a press conference in Copenhagen on Thursday, he emphasized that according to WHO’s assessments, at least 80 per cent of the population must be fully vaccinated before the requirements for keeping a distance can be relaxed.

In the region defined by the WHO as Europe, about 30 percent of the population has received at least one dose while 17 percent are fully vaccinated.
