The American football team FC Inter Miami is not giving up hope that it will get Lionel Messi into its colors next season.
His co-owner Jorge Mas told the Miami Herald that if the 33-year-old Argentine decides not to continue at FC Barcelona, Miami will be the first to offer him a lucrative contract. Messi’s long-term contract at Camp Nou expires on the last day of June this year.
“I am optimistic that Messi will one day be an Inter Miami player. I think it will complement his legacy as the biggest player of his generation and he will meet the ambitions of Inter Miami owners to build a world-class team.” said Jorge Mas.
In Barcelona, they allegedly have prepared a ten-year contract for their mega-star with an interesting description, and Inter Miami also appears in it. According to the Spanish media, the attacking club gem should remain a player of FC Barcelona for the next two seasons and only then should it move to Miami for two years. For the next six years, he would officially serve as the “global ambassador” of the Catalan big club to the world.
The current president and co-owner of the Miami team, David Beckham, has repeatedly expressed the hope that one day he could attract the biggest superstars of world football, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronald, to his club. He has already convinced his friend and former teammate from Manchester United, Phil Neville, to take on the coaching position, and he has already reached several interesting footballers in the player’s frame, and he is negotiating with others about a possible transfer.
“We already have Gonzalez Higuain and Blaise Matuidi here, who should definitely increase the brilliance of our game. In addition to them came former Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross and Brazilian midfielder Gregore,” Beckham stated before the start of the new MLS in April.
After eight games of the new season, Inter Miami is in 11th place in the table of the Eastern MLS Conference with 8 points.
