When designing and launching the new generation of consoles, Microsoft decided to make a double bet on its new hardware, thus launching two options so that consumers could choose the one that best suits their needs or their pockets. This decision has been shown to be quite successful, and the best proof of this can be seen in the sales that both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
Precisely the latter is the one that had more doubts, since it has a “shorter” hardware compared to its older sister. In this sense, many voices in the industry have almost always spoken in favor of it, including Tomas Salas, creator of The Falconeer, and who ensures that Xbox Series S is “a great little development kit.”
Xbox Series S is better thanks to Xbox Game Pass
In an interview for GamingBolt, Tomas Salas has been talking about Xbox Series S at length, and from what he has seen to date he believes that Series S will be able to do the same as its older sister, “but less”:
With some simple math, one can see that the jump from 1080p to 2160p is one of at least a factor of 4. So could an S-Series move a big mid-gen AAA title and run at 1080p or 1440p? I would say that it is very likely.
In addition, with regard to Microsoft’s policy of launching the two consoles, Tomas Salas believes that it is a success if we take into account the great work behind the backward compatibility together with the possibilities offered by Xbox Game Pass:
I suspect that many households will see Xbox Series S as a great alternative to the children’s room console, with an Xbox Series X on the TV in the great room. Along with Game Pass and all the intergenerational things Microsoft is doing, you can see how solid this strategy is. Well, at least from our perspective at the beginning of this console cycle.
We remind you that if you have an active subscription to Xbox Game Pass you can enjoy The Falconeer totally free, a very interesting title that you should not miss.
