Polda Metro Jaya asked the party McDonald’s to remove packages BTS meal temporarily to prevent mass crowd.
On Wednesday (9/6), the crowd was triggered by a queue of motorcycle taxis online aka ojol buying BTS meal promos occurred at a number of McDonald’s outlets.
“We proposed yesterday that the Meal BTS application be removed first. Don’t let a crowd like this happen,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Yusri Yunus in his office, Thursday (10/6).
He said the McDonald’s management had said it would improve the system to prevent crowds.
“They will improve the system so that there are no crowds. This is an acknowledgment from the clarification that has been made to the management of existing McDonald’s outlets, they will improve the system,” he said.
His party has not yet entered into the criminal realm related to this case and is still prioritizing preventive efforts.
“Let’s clarify first, preventatively first, then we’ll see the results,” said Yusri.
The police have also summoned several managers of McDonald’s outlets to be clarified regarding the mass crowd due to the BTS meal promo. This clarification was carried out by the ranks of the Polsek and Polres in each region.
In the clarification process, the manager expressed his apology regarding the crowd caused by the BTS meal promo.
“As a result, there are several outlets, which management apologizes for the incident and will improve the application on how to avoid crowds like what happened yesterday,” said Yusri
The impact of the crowd ordering BTS Meal McD in Jakarta resulted in sanctions to dozens of outlets. In total, there are 32 McD outlets in the capital that have been penalized in the form of temporary closures.
